Through a partnership with Athabasca University you can complete a Bachelor of Professional Arts in Communication Studies at Medicine Hat College’s campus. This four-year degree is available if you have completed an Athabasca University approved two-year communications related diploma from Medicine Hat College or another recognized post-secondary institution. Typically, the diploma would count as the first two years towards the degree. Athabasca University has approved the following Medicine Hat College diploma programs for transfer to this degree; Business Administration, CADD/Technical Illustrator, Global Tourism and Marketing, and Administrative Office Management. This degree requires you to take a minimum of ten courses through Athabasca University to fulfil the residency requirements. You may complete this degree by taking a combination of Medicine Hat College and Athabasca University courses offered onsite at Medicine Hat College. This program is also available entirely through individualized study. As a student in an individualized study course, you will receive a learning resource package in the mail or online and work independently, with support and instruction from your tutor. You will work according to your own schedule, within the six (three-credit course) to 12 (six-credit course) month period allowed to complete the course. Medicine Hat College senior level courses in areas such as English, history, psychology and sociology may be suitable for meeting the third and fourth year requirements of this degree.
