At Hope, the Social Science program prepares students to enter a Teaching Credential program in California for Single Subject Secondary Teaching in the Social Sciences. Christian ethics are integrated into each course, providing students with opportunities to consider the types of issues they will encounter as secondary teachers, particularly in a public school setting, in the increasingly diverse landscape of California. The program also prepares students for credentialing or licensure in most other states. Your adviser can help you develop a specific plan for any state credentials. The program is offered as a Contract Major in cooperation with California State University, Fullerton, which means that students take a majority of courses at HIU and a few supplementary courses at CSUF. The B.A. in Social Science program is 125 units.
