Career outcomes

Graduates with skills in both psychology and business will be very attractive to employers. We work with students to enable them to recognise and develop their employability skills during their degree programme. The Bangor Employability Award runs alongside the degree programme and aims to enhance students’ employability skills by giving credit for the extra and co-curricular skills that students develop during their degree. In addition, Psychology has an Employability Tutor and a Careers Officer who work together to provide students with the information and skills that they will need to enter the workforce at graduate level. A variety of careers are available to graduates with a good degree in psychology. The British Psychological Society website (www.bps.org.uk) has an excellent careers, education and training section which is well worth a visit for the most up-to-date careers advice and guidance. As your degree comes from a highly reputed, research intensive department working closely with Business (another highly ranked dept.), you will find that this can add value to your degree classification. It is expected that some graduates will use the specialist Psychological knowledge and transferable skills they have acquired on our courses as the basis for careers as teachers, nurses, police officers, social workers, researchers etc. while others will draw more heavily on the Business elements within their degree and go on to work in advertising, public relations, the Civil Service, administration, retail services, sales, marketing, managers in public or private enterprises, journalists, lawyers, or accountants.
