This course lies within an integrated programme of BEng (3 year) and MEng (4 year) degrees, both of which can be taken with an additional sandwich year. With a year in industry taken in the third year of this four year course, this degree programme emphasises those areas of nanotechnology of direct relevance to contemporary electronics enhanced with a year gaining experience in the workplace. Students are taught in our nanofabrication facilities from the first year of the course.

Employment prospects for our graduates are excellent and they are very well regarded in industry. Industry Many of our students find jobs in related industries and in all sizes of companies from multi-nationals to small businesses. However, they graduate with strong mathematical, computing/programming, team working and technical management skills that are an integral part of our programmes. This means that they also have access to a very wide range of potential career paths outside of the more obvious ones. Research Since our students find the Department, University and City of York attractive, they continue at York with a higher degree, e.g. PhD, before a research career in a university or in industry.
