Course Description

This challenging one year international Premedical Sciences programme has been co-developed by the University of the West of England (UWE) and St. George's University (SGU), in Grenada, West Indies. Taught at UWE Bristol, it provides an exciting route for students with A-level science qualifications or the equivalent to gain the knowledge and entry qualification for subsequent progression onto the high quality and internationally recognised four year Medical Programme at SGU in Grenada.

Successful completion of this programme with an average of 65% or more and a satisfactory reference from UWE will provide you with a guaranteed place on the internationally recognised four year medical programme at SGU in Grenada. You will also have the option to progress onto the established BSc(Hons) Biomedical Science at UWE, gaining advanced entry onto the second year of the three year course. Career paths There is a global shortage of trained medical personnel. As a science or medicine graduate you will find many career choices are open to you. Some seventy per cent of graduates from the BSc(Hons) Biomedical Science follow careers in biomedical sciences; in particular research and development work in the pharmaceutical and health care sectors. SGU currently has over 8000 graduates employed worldwide as healthcare professionals including in countries such as the US and Canada. As part of the subsequent medical degree at SGU, students routinely undertake clinical placements in the US or Canada which normally leads to them gaining employment in those places.
