Our challenging BA(Hons) Media Culture and Practice course is for students with a passion for making or writing about contemporary media. We will nurture and challenge your creativity, critical writing and technical abilities, enabling you to develop your own interests and expertise. The combination of producing media and studying will prepare you for a growing range of exciting careers across the communications industries. Working with staff as co-researchers from the start, you will devise experimental and socially engaged projects, while building practical skills in writing and analysis, blogging, websites and social media, film, photography and events. All of which are underpinned by theoretical enquiry and critique. You will also develop an understanding of the impact of media in its cultural and historical context.

This course will prepare you for today's fast-changing media environment. Careers are available in TV, film and media production, journalism, publishing, the heritage sector (museums, galleries, etc), marketing, teaching and events management. Employers tell us they appreciate our graduates' ability to question, challenge and innovate. Our alumni work as studio and production managers, account managers, videographers, filmmakers, directors and editors, communications and marketing officers, social media managers, digital media managers for charities, in client liaison for creative companies, web consultants, model bookers, media educators and online journalists. Many of our graduates choose to undertake postgraduate study, including studying for PhDs.
