Based around the biomedical sciences, the Certificate of Higher Education Premedical Sciences gives you the knowledge and qualifications to progress to studying medicine or another related honours degree course. It can lead to many different employment opportunities including research and development work in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, as well as a career as a doctor. This challenging international Premedical Sciences course has been co-developed by UWE Bristol and St. George's University (SGU), in Grenada, West Indies. Taught at Bristol, it provides an exciting route for students with A-level science qualifications or the equivalent to gain the knowledge and entry qualification for progression to the high quality, internationally recognised, four-year Medical Programme at SGU. Alternatively, you will have the option to join the BSc(Hons) Biomedical Science at UWE Bristol, gaining entry onto the second year of the course.

Successful completion of the Premedical Sciences course with an average score of 65 per cent or more and a satisfactory reference from UWE Bristol will give a guaranteed place on the Medical Programme at SGU. You will also have the option to progress onto BSc(Hons) Biomedical Science at UWE gaining advanced entry to the second year of the course. Graduating in science or medicine opens up many career opportunities. Around 70 per cent of graduates from our BSc(Hons) Biomedical Science follow careers in research and development work within the pharmaceutical and health care sectors. SGU currently has over 13,000 graduates employed worldwide as healthcare professionals in countries such as the US and Canada. At SGU, students undertake clinical placements in the US, Canada or in the UK, which normally lead to employment in those countries. Students who undertake clinical placement in the UK will be able to practise there after completing integral conversion examinations.
