Course Description

Engineers play an important role solving the 21st century problems faced by industry and society. As a result, there is high demand for graduates with a broad-based approach to engineering problem-solving and a sound understanding of multi-disciplinary projects. If you have successfully completed an Engineering Foundation degree, an HND or international qualification requiring conversion, this course provides a one-year top-up to an honours degree. Building on the foundation of your previous studies, you can choose pathways in manufacturing or electronics. On manufacturing you will study subjects such as mechanical design, manufacturing systems, alternative energy, operations and quality management, and automated manufacture. On electronics, you may examine robotics, signal processing, computer networks and embedded systems.

Career outcomes

On graduation, your combined understanding of engineering practice, information technology (IT), project management and business will equip you for work in a range of industries and professions. These range from mechanical design, manufacture and operations management, to alternative energies and electronics. Recent graduates have gone on to jobs as CAD engineers, technicians, mechanical engineers, project managers, and product support engineers.
