Course Description

Duration: Three years, four years sandwich Law affects every part of human life. From the air we breathe to our relationships with each other and the state. Every organisation will encounter legal issues arising in the day-to-day running of their business from contracts, employment issues, property, acquisitions and mergers to media, sales and marketing. Legal advice is needed at all stages from setting up a company to dissolving it. If you are interested in studying Law but are more corporate than courtroom then this degree could be for you. Employers value the commercial awareness of graduates and the deeper understanding of business law. The law industry is dynamic and competitive and changes in line with social needs. A law degree offers diverse career pathways and provides you with a skillset to succeed in almost any career.

Career outcomes

Law students are highly valued by employers due to the broad skillset gained from studying the subject. Whilst many students pursue a legal career as Solicitor, Barrister, Legal Advisor, Legal Executive or Paralegal there is also scope to enter a wide range of careers in HR, finance, teaching, advice and charity work and in the public sector. Past graduates have secured roles in a range of settings including law firms, chambers, city councils, banks, estate agents, citizens' advice, higher education, accountancy and the Crown Prosecution Service.
