MSc Equine Science

Course Description

Equine Science can be studied at MSc, Pg Diploma or Pg Certificate level.Postgraduate study in Equine Science at Hartpury can be the start of many exciting opportunities. The programme consists of taught modules delivered via weekend study blocks to facilitate study alongside your career and a range of full and part time study options are available to suit your personal circumstances. The modules will increase your knowledge and understanding but a key focus is the application of how equine science can maximize performance, enhance career longevity or aid in selection of the performance horse, with a core goal of optimising the horse’s welfare. Throughout the modules, you will also gain ‘hands-on’ experience of modern technology, e.g. gait analysis and electromyography, utilized to assess performance which can build valuable skills for your future. The dissertation project allows you to take the knowledge and skills gained during the programme and apply them to a unique research project based upon your personal interest which could be linked to future career development or aspirations. Students are encouraged throughout their programme to attend conferences, present their research and become a member of the wider academic community including at our own annual Alltech-Hartpury Equine Performance conference.
