LLB(Hons) Law with Psychology

Course Description

What makes criminals tick? How are offenders treated in the run up to a trail? Law is about the regulation of human behaviour whilst psychology is the study of human behaviour - two distinct yet interdisciplinary subjects that when combined enhances study, contextualises learning and provides a pathway to diverse and exciting careers. This course brings together expertise and cutting-edge teaching in Law and Psychology, combining the subjects to explore the more human aspects of law and social, developmental and cognitive psychology through modules spanning civil liberties, criminal justice, forensic evidence and Psychology and Social Justice. You will study both subjects in equal measure in your first year and then opt to major in either Law or Psychology from year 2. If you major in Law, you will have the option to graduate with a Qualifying Law Degree (QLD), which provides you with the core legal knowledge to progress to either the Legal Practice Course or Bar Professional Training Course to become a Solicitor or Barrister.

Career outcomes

Both Law and Psychology degrees are highly valued by employers and provide a solid foundation for a variety of careers.Depending on specialisms you may progress to further training to pursue exciting and diverse careers in Psychology or the Legal Professions or combine your knowledge and experience for a more specific career in legal psychology. Whilst many Law graduates pursue a legal career as Solicitor, Barrister, Legal Advisor, Legal Executive or Paralegal there is also scope to enter a wide range of careers in HR, finance, teaching, advice and charity work and in the Public Sector.
