Course Description

The BSc (Hons) Applied Animal Science with Therapy degree programme, which is new for 2016 (subject to validation), offers students the opportunity to gain specific practical hydrotherapy skills whilst developing a strong foundation in applied animal science. Throughout the degree programme, there is an emphasis on the development of relevant vocational skills to ensure your future success working in the animal industry, but also equipping you with the skills and knowledge you need to progress on to postgraduate study. The Applied Science with Therapy degree programme will be of interest to anyone who wants to understand how animals function, common causes of disease and how to manage animal collections to optimise health and welfare. You will develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the theory that underpins animal health and welfare, which you are encouraged to put into practice by applying the theory you learn to propose solutions to commonly encountered animal management problems. During their studies, students will widen their vocational skill base, equipping them to work effectively across a range of animal-related professions, develop key industry contacts and gain valuable experience working with a wide variety of animals in a range of situations.
