The Bachelor of Engineering (Ocean Engineering) was developed to serve the needs of the Australian offshore oil and gas engineering, coastal and subsea engineering, and related industries by providing professional engineers specifically educated in the field. It is currently the only such undergraduate program in Australia. AMC makes use of its uniquely maritime focus and its wide variety of specialist facilities to produce graduates with a strong "hands on" approach to complement their theoretical studies, and endeavours to emphasise the novel aspects of ocean engineering associated with developments in deeper waters.

This is a bachelor degree program leading to careers in the oil and gas industry, in particular the offshore industry, coastal and environmental engineering, marine consultancy firms and ocean research organisations.
