BSc Psychology with Cognitive Neuroscience

Course Description

If you’re curious about how our mind works and what drives human behaviour, psychology is your perfect subject. Studying psychology is an investment for life, and at Essex you acquire skills that go far beyond being useful in related professions. We give you the freedom and facilities to study and experiment, explore and research the human mind. You cover core areas in psychology with cognitive neuroscience including brain and behaviour, methods in cognitive neuroscience, developmental psychology, personality and individual differences, language, memory, perception, social psychology, and research methods and statistics. With a strong emphasis on the teaching of research skills, you learn how to design effective studies of your own, and to appraise and critically evaluate those of others. You learn in both small and large groups throughout your course, and you also have access to our specialist research equipment such as EEG, TMS, and eye tracking during your time here. Your career after Essex could take a number of paths, as you’ll take away many transferable skills from studying Psychology with Cognitive Neuroscience. Our recent graduates enjoy successful careers within the fields of clinical, forensic, educational or occupational psychology, social work, mental health care, management, human resources, and media and marketing.
