LLB Law (Senior Status)

Course Description

Law affects every aspect of our lives: from our relationships with other people, to our interactions with shops, banks, companies and government. Studying law enables you to understand how societies are regulated and how you can change it. Our unique LLB Law (Senior Status) is designed for those with an existing degree and provides a comprehensive training in law over a concentrated two-period. The course gives you exemption from the academic stage of training for the legal profession, allowing you to proceed to the Bar Professional Training Course or the Legal Practice Course. At Essex, we teach the law that matters, with a concern for the demands of justice and commerce. You learn to analyse the law of England and Wales in relation to its European and international frameworks and to apply it in practice.

Career outcomes

If you wish to pursue a career in law, our LLB courses give exemption from the academic training stage for the legal profession and allow you to proceed to the Bar Professional Training Course or the Legal Practice Course offered by institutions across the country. Our graduates work across the legal profession, in multi-national city firms, national and regional firms, local high street solicitors, in-house legal teams in the public and private sectors as well as training for the Bar. Many graduates take the highly desirable skills and knowledge developed during their law degree into sectors such as business, accountancy, insurance, banking, central and local government, NGOs, as well as teaching, social work and the police.
