Study and be part of a world-leading research team, focusing on scientific study of sport and exercise performance, in labs offering you research opportunities and skills development rare to the UK. First gaining a broad knowledge of the core scientific areas of sport and exercise science, you’ll use discipline leading equipment including online gas analysis machines, an environmental chamber, light gates and echocardiography, amongst others, to build your knowledge of scientific theory relating to sport and exercise performance. This course includes a sandwich placement year between levels 5 and 6. This will develop your work-based learning and experiences, putting you into a strong position after you graduate when applying for jobs, and potentially providing a relevant work-based referee to complement your academic reference from the University of Bedfordshire.

In your Sandwich year you may will complete a placement providing an externally valid employability framework to apply your evolving practice. These experiences can be relied upon within interviews to provide evidence of your varied competencies. Graduates work in roles such as Sport Scientist within Semi-Professional, Professional and Elite Sport, Strength and Conditioning Professional, Exercise Physiologist, NHS based exercise specialist (cardiac rehabilitation etc), Exercise Practitioner. Students also progress to postgraduate study and teacher training.
