The BSc Physical Earth Science degree scheme combines physical geography with physical aspects of geology, and will suit you if you have an interest in physical aspects of the Earth. Students take modules in physical geography and geology at Year One. At Years Two and Four, students study compulsory modules (research methods, approaches to geography, field course, dissertation) that focus on physical geography. They undertake additional geological fieldwork and a module investigating the geological record of environmental change. Subject to application, you will take your placement at Year 3, after the 2nd year of your studies. During the 2nd year you will receive support from our placements team to help you prepare and make every effort to secure a placement relevant to your studies. At Level Four, students undertake a dissertation and a research frontiers essay or work placement with a geological theme.
