The Business Administration – Human Resources program prepares you to join a Human Resources department in a business, non-profit organization or governmental agency. As an HR professional, it will be your responsibility to attract and retain outstanding employees, provide learning and development opportunities and create sustainable total rewards programs. That’s just the beginning of the challenges you'll face in this important role. The Sheridan Business Administration – Human Resources program devotes the first year of study to helping you acquire the foundational skills you need to succeed in any business administration career. The second year and third year of the Human Resources college program delivers hands-on training in vital HR skills through: Case studies Role playing activities Internet research assignments and classroom presentations Guest speaker appearances Simulated negotiation situations Group work You'll gain knowledge of the latest trends in organizational behaviour, human resources planning and employment law. In addition, you'll learn to work as a team member on projects and manage HR data utilizing the most current business software including PeopleSoft information management systems. Sheridan’s HR diploma program equips you to: Recruit top quality applicants. Compensate employees correctly. Manage workplace health and safety issues. This program qualifies graduates to seek positions such as: HR Administrator HR Assistant Talent Acquisition Coordinator Talent Acquisition Recruiter Health and Safety Coordinator Health and Safety Assistant HRIS Analyst Future Pathways Curriculum is designed to prepare graduates of the three-year Business Administration Human Resources diploma to write professional examinations through Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) as a step towards certification as a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP). Currently, the requirements for the CHRP designation are HRPA membership in good standing, successful completion of the coursework requirement and successful completion of the knowledge exam. As of Spring 2016, a Job Ready program must also be successfully completed, and as of Summer 2016, an HR law exam must also be successfully completed. Members with the CHRP designation must maintain their membership in HRPA and must meet the ongoing continuing professional development (CPD) requirement in order to maintain the designation.
