Course Description

This new Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering degree focuses on the extraction of raw materials from the earth using sustainable methods. This major will teach you about the design, commissioning and operation of engineering processes and plants. You'll learn how to harvest the mineral resources in a safe and responsible manner using the latest chemical and metallurgical processes. You will gain practical as well as theoretical training in processing techniques and develop an understanding of the organisational aspects of the resources industry. Research in resources engineering and extractive metallurgy is a major part of our school focus. You will be taught by a vibrant group of teachers/researchers who will help you explore the challenges faced by the process industries and the need for safe and effective treatment of complex resources. As a graduate of this course you will be well equipped to develop new technologies that are required to ensure a sustainable society.
