Course Description

Forensic science has become more exacting and sophisticated over recent years, often forming the critical component of a case in a court of law. Our job is to help you become a first-class forensic biologists and toxicologist, by giving you the knowledge and understanding you'll need to gather, analyse and present scientific evidence in a court of law. Gain a thorough grounding in molecular genetics and DNA profiling You will learn how to apply the techniques of molecular biology to DNA profiling and gain hands-on experience in gas chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance and mass-spectrometry - all modern techniques associated with the detection of legal and illegal drugs and poisons. You will also undergo thorough training in biochemistry, including aspects of drug metabolism, using case studies from past forensic investigations.
