Middlesex University School of Law is internationally known for its expertise in the field of criminology alongside legal specialisms including Human Rights and Migration. As well as having highly regarded lecturers in both law and criminology, the University is home to three research centres at the leading edge of research into criminal justice issues: the Centre for Abuse and Trauma Studies; the Crime and Conflict Research Centre; the Urban Neighbourhood Research Unit Through commissioned research and consultancy, each of these centres plays an active role in guiding national and international policy, including in areas such as child abuse and gang-related violence.
