Course Description

Our course is tailored towards students wishing to forge careers in the financial sector. You will build specialist economic knowledge of the operations, strategy and regulatory functions of finance and banking institutions, prepared to pursue a management career within a financial institution. There is no better city to study finance. London remains, alongside New York and Tokyo, a powerhouse of international banking. Course highlights: Students will have access to the latest Bloomberg finance software in our Financial Markets Lab and can work towards achieving certification. Middlesex student can also take the Bloomberg Assessment Test (BAT) for free, gaining them exposure to financial employers worldwide. In the Financial Markets Lab students also get the chance to work with Datastream finance software and work toward achieving certification to enhance their career prospects. Support on the course is offered by the online virtual learning platform, high quality learning materials, and regular face-to-face contact time with academics. The level of support is reflected in NSS scores over 90% for teaching, learning resources and personal development. Our London location enables students to undertake prestigious placements with organisations such as HM Treasury, Barclays, Merrill Lynch, and specialist financial forecasting firms.

You could find yourself working within: banks and building societies; insurance; or in accountancy within either audit, tax or an accountancy business; or managing investment and pension funds. Our Banking & Finance graduates have gone on to work in a wide range of roles in prestigious organisations including: Bensons Accountants, Tradewise, London Eye, South Sudan Women’s Skills Development and Honda. In roles such as: Trainee Accountant, Claims Negotiator, Self Ledger Clerk, Finance Secretary and also Sales. Additionally, you can go on to do further study.
