The Masters in Biomedical Sciences Program (MSBMS) is a research-intensive, thesis-based graduate program designed to prepare students for employment in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries; healthcare; teaching; and for further postgraduate studies at the doctoral level in medicine (MD, DO), dental medicine (DMD), or in basic and applied/translational research (PhD). Applicants for the MSBMS Program should have completed the following prior to enrollment: A BS or BA degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4-point scale. GRE or MCAT scores must also be submitted at the time of application. Preference will be given to applicants who have either majored in a natural science or who have taken extensive coursework in the sciences. The Division of Basic Medical Sciences at the Mercer University School of Medicine-Macon Campus provides instruction in the M.D. Program, the one-year Master of Science in Preclinical Sciences Program and two-year, research thesis-based Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences Program. Classroom instruction in the first year of the Biomedical Sciences Program is provided at the Macon Campus, after which students have the option of working under the direction of participating research faculty in either the Division of Biomedical Sciences in Macon or the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the Savannah Campus. Academic and research facilities on both campuses are fully available to Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences students throughout the course of their studies.
