Course Description

Engineering is at the heart of building a strong economy. That's why we've created this course - we're going to give you the expertise to become a modern day engineer that can bring fresh ideas and products to a number of industries. The demand for new products and the pace of change in technology has seen automation, embedded systems and computer science take a leading role in the engineering process. Our course will build your skills in designing and developing industrial controls, simulation and integrated systems, and smart devices. We will show you how systems can be programmed to control other software and hardware, from food manufacturing machinery and pharmaceutical production lines, to hospital equipment and every day technology such as escalators. We're firm believers that creativity, problem solving and the ability to react quickly to changing environments are at the core of being a great engineer and we'll provide you with the support to develop in all these areas. There's a strong industrial focus to what we teach - you'll investigate electronic development boards which you can reconfigure to control systems, smart devices that can be networked to manage tasks and designing new bespoke products that can increase productivity and reduce risks across industries. You'll also study how networking practices are utilised in automation and embedded systems. If you're a computing or engineering graduate already working in the industry, our course will help you progress into a managerial position, giving you the ability to create new products and increase process efficiency in your place of work.
