MA SPORT, LAW AND SOCIETY

Course Description

Developed in response to the significant growth of sport law, this course provides an insight into a range of socio-legal subjects applied to sport, recreation and leisure. You will study core modules in key areas of sport law, including diversity, discrimination, negligence, criminal assault, corporate manslaughter, as well as disciplinary processes and Anti-Doping rules. There is an opportunity for you to choose two options from a range of areas. Our Legal Regulation module includes player contracts, freedom of movement, governance and corruption, and the work of the Court of Arbitration for Sport and the World Anti-Doping Agency. Other options include Popular Culture & Sport in a Risk Society, International Sport Event Management and Sport, Leisure & Globalisation. You will have the flexibility to apply learning and assessments to your own areas of interest and work with leading researchers and practitioners in sport, sociology and law. January entrants please note: in order to complete 12 months of academic study delivered in University term time, the total length of your programme will be 18 months to include recognised University vacation periods.
