Careers in fine art, graphic design and photography demand extensive study that combines theoretical knowledge with creative practice. If you're passionate about art, design, or creative practice, this degree can give you the foundation you need. Our design studios include darkrooms and photography studios as well as graphics and digital design labs. You'll use Wacom drawing tablets and scanners, on-campus digital printing facilities and have access to 40 Apple computers running the latest scanners and software including Adobe Creative Suite and digital animation programs. We also provide fine arts facilities, with specialist ceramics studios at Bendigo, and studios for painting and drawing, printmaking, graphic design, illustration, photography, video-making and digital imaging. Your studies will include applied design subjects throughout your first three years. You'll also have the option to complete specialist research in art and design during an additional Honours year. You can choose electives from other creative arts streams to complement your chosen specialisation and provide a broader context for your chosen discipline. You'll have the opportunity to work with the La Trobe Art Institute and its network of regional galleries, which may include taking an accelerated subject with the Bendigo Art Gallery or the National Gallery of Victoria. We also offer opportunities to exhibit your work in solo or group exhibitions. While the fine art and graphic design streams are available in Bendigo and Mildura, the photography stream is only available at the Bendigo Campus.
