This degree requires you to undertake a major original research project under supervision and to submit a thesis. While coursework is not a requirement for the degree, selected subjects may be recommended. We undertake quality research in the field of human communication and swallowing. Research studies advance scientific knowledge and contributes to professional practice, educational programs, policy and service delivery. Many staff in HCS have an international reputation for research into communication and swallowing disorders. Current research topics include; stuttering; rehabilitation of dysphagia (swallowing disorder) in adults; better managing of people with complex communication needs; improving communication skills in male to female transsexuals; aphasia.
