The MA in Law is only available to students who complete the DIT PgDip in Law at the required level (typically, a 2.2 is required in the PgDip). The MA in Law is deemed a full-time or part-time programme (the choice is up to the student). There is one taught module, in advanced research methods, and the student is expected to devote full-time effort to the completion of a 15,000 - 20,000 word thesis under the supervision of a law lecturer. Students have found that they can complete the required thesis within the allocated time frame while employed on a full or part-time basis. There is an upper limit of 20 students on the MA in Law. Successful students will have a superior piece of written work reflecting a sustained period of legal research to show to prospective employers.
