Learn essential underpinning theory and enjoy plenty of practical experience to build the professional skills required to deliver beauty eye treatments, waxing treatments, manicures, pedicures and day/night make up. Gain the Certificate of Beauty Therapy, the National Certificates in Beauty Services (Beautician and Nail Technology), and the opportunity to sit the internationally recognised City and Guilds Diploma in Beauty Therapy (conditions apply). You will be based at Porirua Campus. All of our courses are practical and you will enjoy performing treatments on paying clients during Beauty Salon Days and other promotional events that are held regularly throughout the course. Programme Outline Anatomy and Physiology Learn human anatomy and physiology relating to the Beauty Therapy industry. Cosmetology services Gain a thorough understanding of make-up applications plus eyelash/eyebrow tinting and eyebrow shaping. Learn the retail skills to provide professional client services and receive an industry certificate. Facial Therapy Learn the practical and theoretical knowledge of current treatments and services using quality products. Perform cleansing and massage treatments on clients using manual and electrical techniques. Manicure and Pedicure Learn the theory and current treatments for manicure and pedicures and practice this skills on clients. Nail Augmentation Learn to professionally apply both acrylic and gel nail enhancement systems. Small Business You will understand what it takes to run and operate a small business, including ownership options, financial structures and marketing. Waxing Learn theory and practical knowledge of performing a wide range of waxing treatments for the body. Health and Safety Complete a two day Fist Aid workshop, delivered by an industry professional, and receive NZQA unit standards on first aid procedures and emergency situation management. Gain an understanding of health and safety responsibilities within the workplace. Salon days Gain extensive practical experience with a range of clients during our professional salon days which are held regularly throughout this course.
