The Bachelor of Social Work is for students who want to make a real difference in the lives of others. It is a four-year undergraduate degree that provides an entry-level qualification into the social work profession. This course will suit recent high school graduates, mature aged students, and those looking to enter the human services sector. Progression options are flexible, with a Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) available for meritorious students, who are enrolled in the Bachelor of Social Work, in the fourth year of their studies.Those who successfully complete their fourth year without the Honours stream will graduate with the Bachelor of Social Work, and those who are accepted into the final year honours program will graduate with the Bachelor of Social Work (Honours). In order to successfully complete the Bachelor of Social Work (Honours), students are required to carry out an independent piece of research and write a minor research thesis. In addition, those who initially enrol in the Bachelor of Social Work and wish to exit early can do so at the completion of the second year, graduating with an Associate Degree of Human Services. ACAP's Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) are Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) provisionally accredited qualifications. They are entry qualifications into the social work profession and have been determined to meet the Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards (ASWEAS).

Opportunities for Social Work graduates are diverse and range across a variety of health and welfare fields including human services, small community-based programs and services, selected Government departments, non-Governmental organisations, health and mental health, community practice, women and migrant services, child and family services, and corrections and justice. Bachelor of Social Work graduates can also pathway into postgraduate coursework Graduate Certificates, Graduate Diplomas or Master Degrees, including ACAP’s Master of Social Work. Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) graduates can pathway into postgraduate research degrees, such as a PhD or Professional Doctorate.
