Course Description

BEng (Hons) Networked Systems Engineering Duration :3-4 years GCU has developed a suite of programmes that puts students at the forefront of secure system engineering and defending cyberspace from present sophisticated malicious attacks. We have the best networking labs in Scotland and teach this subject to CISCO ‘network professional’ standards. Networked Systems Engineering BEng (Hons) builds on GCU’s expertise in the field of networked systems. It equips students with an in-depth knowledge of the IT network infrastructure needed to run large enterprise and wide area network deployments. It focuses on the specification, design, deployment and troubleshooting of complex network topologies.

Career outcomes

In the past our students have secured placements with companies of the stature of; IBM, Dell Corporation, National Australia Group, The Royal Bank of Scotland and Strathclyde Police. There is also the option to study abroad under our Erasmus Exchange Programme. Our course will prepare you for entering the communication networks and security engineering sectors, an industry which employs one in the three of all jobs within the IT sector. This sector is becoming increasingly complex, with particular need for security, wireless and mobile specialist skills. Our graduates could find themselves working in IT/Network infrastructure support or as a network engineer.
