Course Description

The Advanced Television and Film program has undergone a significant transformation and has increased in length to 3 (three) terms (i.e. 42 weeks September-August). Transmedia and new interactive courses have been created and integrated within the traditional curriculum. Program Overview Sheridan Advanced Television and Film Studies program (ATVF) provides a benchmark of excellence for film schools in Canada. Our student work consistently wins awards at film festivals in North America and internationally, and our graduates continue to achieve professional and artistic success. ATVF integrates the practical, technical and creative aspects of television and film studies while providing direct, industry-relevant experience. You'll develop your creativity while gaining the specialized skills you need to bring your ideas and vision to life on the screen. You'll also acquire an understanding of new technologies and production methods, enabling you to stay current as the industry evolves. Get Immersed in the Industry ATVF stands out among Canadian film schools for its hands-on emphasis. In less than a year you’ll work on numerous films while: Learning sophisticated production techniques and technologies, including RED ONE™ image capture, High Definition, 35mm, 16mm and AVID Media Composer Nitris DX™ editing systems. Collaborating with other creative professionals. Shooting on professional sound stages and on location. Producing documentaries. Developing a fast track to knowledge in areas such as directing, screenwriting, cinematography, editing, sound, production design and post-production. Building career connections during a five-week onsite job placement. Our instructors and production facilities rank second to none among film schools in Canada. You’ll work in professional surroundings, learn from practicing filmmakers with years of industry experience, and be immersed in the culture of the television and film industry — and, in just one academic year, you can become part of it. ATVF is designed for mature students who already hold a college diploma or university degree, and for working professionals who want to upgrade their skill set. The program belongs to CILECT (Centre International de Liaison des Ecoles de Cinéma et de Télévision), an international consortium of the world’s major television and film schools. Sheridan Advanced Television and Film Studies (ATVF) courses are held at the Trafalgar Road Campus in Oakville, Ontario. ATVF film work has been produced in studio and Toronto locations. Numerous productions have been filmed in international locations in China, India, Europe and South America.
