Course Description

Course Overview This course is relevant to those who wish to pursue careers in the courts, law enforcement agencies, the prison service or the probation service. It will give you an understanding of the criminal act and the response of the State. Throughout the course, you will look at criminal motivation, the gathering of scientific evidence and the workings of the criminal justice and penal systems. A key strength of this course is the work-based learning modules, where students typically work in areas such as youth offending, victim support, crime prevention, witness support and various policing support roles, including as special constables. The work-based learning provides an invaluable opportunity for students to gain experience in a crime-related field and enhance their chances of finding relevant employment after graduation.
