Course Description

The Certificate of Graduate Study in Applied Statistics (C.A.S.) is designed to provide engineers and scientists with the modern data analytic tools needed for effective practice as a specialist in statistical methods. Admission to the C.A.S. program typically requires a GRE score (verbal plus quantitative) of 950 or more and one calculus course with a B or better. Students currently enrolled in other graduate degree programs at USC are automatically eligible to pursue the certificate (with permission of their home department for concurrent enrollment) as long as they have taken the prerequisite calculus course.

Career outcomes

* The CAS recipient should be able to apply and interpret general statistical methods, including their implementation in standard statistical packages. * The CAS degree recipient should be able to apply and interpret experimental design methods including its role in quality improvement and other fields. * The CAS degree can be attained entirely through distance education. Distance education students should perform at the same level as students completing a similar program (MS) through traditional course work.
