Bachelor of Arts Archaeology

Course Description

Archaeology is the study of human civilizations and societies, primarily through the study of the materials they left behind. Archaeology at UNB Fredericton is an interdepartmental program provided by the Departments of Anthropology and Classics and Ancient History in the Faculty of Arts. A Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology covers anthropological archaeology (human-focused archaeology) and classical archaeology (investigation of the Ancient Greece and Rome). The first two years of the program consist of required courses which provide a foundation in the discipline of Archaeology. In the final two years students specialize in the Anthropological or Classical streams, but are required to take some upper-level classes from both streams. Bachelor of Arts The Archaeology program is available as a major, double major, honours, joint honours or minor option as part of a Bachelor of Arts degree. Arts is a four-year degree that covers a broad range of subject areas concerned with the study of human beings and the evolution and nature of global societies, ideas, and institutions. In your first two years of the program, you will select courses in fields like humanities, languages, social sciences as well as science and business to provide you with a broad foundation for advanced study in your chosen subject area during the final two years.
