A Management Science major can only earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA). The Management Science department serves the University in the general areas of applied statistics and operations research. Management Science emphasizes quantitative problem definition, modeling, solution, analysis and implementation. A Management Science concentration prepares students to apply mathematics, statistics and computer models to problems of business, industry and government. Application areas of special interest include manufacturing, the environment, urban planning, law enforcement, transportation, education, and health care delivery. Emphasis is placed on the consideration of the overall system under study from the viewpoint of its goals, the various means of achieving these goals, and finally the quantitative evaluation of the effectiveness of the proposed solution alternatives. Thus, while the unifying theme of the program is methodology, the primary objective is the analysis of real problems.
