An East Asia track in the major in Asian studies consists of four core courses, a language requirement, and five electives. A South Asia track in the major in Asian studies consists of four core courses and seven electives.

Because of Asia's growing importance in an age of globalization, knowledge of Asian languages, and familiarity with Asian history, culture, and current events, gives Asian studies students a competitive edge in careers related to business, government, law, education, and art connected with this region of the world.
