Course Description

The MA Architecture: Sustainability and Design is a critical examination of environmental sustainability and environmental design. This is both an old and new practice, driven by both traditional and experimental ideas. Links to the US Green Building Council, IUAV in Venice and the NGO Article 25 establish an international agenda to enable highly specific critiques of socially sustainable place. Key teaching staff include Anna Minton (Author of Ground Control) and Katherine Clarke (Partner of public realm specialists MUF). The course has operated a philosophically critical, design-based approach to sustainability since 2008, actively working on the integration of history, materials, and critical thinking that allows you to develop your own personal postion on sustainability.

Career outcomes

Live research projects involving LEED ND have allowed our research group to employ graduates for specific paid research work, providing reports for organisations such as developers and local authorities. References provided by our staff have secured a number of university research positions outside UEL.
