Catholic Studies

Course Description

In Spring 2008, TWU approved a Catholic studies minor in the Christianity and Culture program comprised of courses entirely by Redeemer Pacific College, a Roman Catholic college affiliated with TWU, located next to the main campus. The minor is ideal for Catholic students who want to explore their faith on a deeper, educational level, or for students with an interest in Catholicism. Students taking the minor receive a strong knowledge of the Catholic faith and its historical background, proving them with skills to think critically and philosophically. Redeemer Pacific College also has a team of expert faculty including Dr. Robert Stackpole, the head of the Discovery Institute, and Dr. Chris Morrissey, an Aristotelian Thomist and Latin consultant for the show "Supernatural" and who writes for The Globe and Mail and The B.C. Catholic. In addition, students approach Catholic studies with a biblical, theological, and philosophical foundation as they learn about various topics such as morality, Catholic spirituality, ecumenical dialogue, and the early Church Fathers. The minor allows students to take courses from Redeemer Pacific College and TWU. Graduates can continue their studies at TWU's Graduate School of Theological Studies (ACTS)
