Course Description

TWU’s biology department prepares students to work and lead in fields such as biotechnology, health sciences, and environmental science. The biology program combines both theoretical and practical learning. In lectures, students gain knowledge from highly skilled professors who are involved in their areas of research. In addition, students are presented with many work and practicum opportunities through TWU. TWU has its own Ecosystem Study Area of 40 acres for ecological preservation and educating students. Pre-med club helps students to apply for medical school. Students can be a part of the Science in the Valley team. Biology professors are researchers in their specialized areas and students are encouraged to participate in faculty research programs. Biology professor Dr. Eve Stringham holds a Canada Research Chair in Developmental Genetics and Disease. Travel studies to Hawaii, Washington State, Salt Spring Island, Florida, and Africa educate biology students about tropical botany and marine ecology.
