Master Program in Civil Engineering

Course Description

Your engineering degree has placed you in one of the most in-demand professions today. Great opportunities arise for the top engineers, those skilled in designing the most complex systems. Trine University’s Allen School of Engineering and Technology can give you the additional expertise you need through our one-year Master’s of Civil Engineering program. You will be better positioned to excel and obtain the level of salary and promotions you desire. In addition, Trine University is one of only a few engineering schools that offer students the opportunity to complete both a Bachelor degree and an engineering Master’s degree simultaneously. The Five-Year program requires five academic years with one summer of study. Upon completion of the program, you will receive both a bachelor's and a master's degree. Expand Increase the value of your bachelor’s degree. We help you do it with just one year of design-based, practice-oriented training in engineering. All you need is a Bachelor of Science in the civil engineering field or a closely related discipline to be eligible for our one-year Master of Engineering program. Evening and late-afternoon classes accommodate working professionals. Experience Program requirements are based on The American Society of Civil Engineer's body of knowledge report, which outlines the knowledge, skills, and attitude of a licensed professional engineer. The master of engineering degree requires 32 semester credits beyond the undergraduate program. The curriculum consists of 12 credits in civil engineering specialty courses, nine credits of upper level engineering, science or mathematics courses, six credits of business related coursework, and a 5-credit-hour design project. Ideally, the independent project can involve industrial sponsorship and employment. Respond The rapidly changing technologies used by leaders in business, industry, and government require advanced knowledge of design, development and research. That’s why we focus on technical skills, application, and efficient use of resources. You will create, invent, and apply science using today’s most state-of-the-art technology and accomplish this during our one-year program. It’s all part of our mission to educate knowledgeable engineers who are ready to solve today's industrial challenges. Many states are considering a proposal to require one year of education beyond the bachelor’s degree for registration as a Professional Engineer. With its emphasis on design and practice, the Master of Engineering degree offers an excellent base for professional registration.
