The SIU Certificate in Educational Leadership is designed for experienced, licensed, school building educators (teachers, counselors, etc.) who have earned education related master’s degrees and are now ready to pursue new leadership roles within their schools or school districts. The Certificate in Educational Leadership is a nationally recognized, accelerated program that prepares students for licensure as principals, district supervisors, and superintendents at all educational levels (Pre-K through Adult). This program prepares you with courses to develop the practical skills and knowledge necessary for school and district leadership. All coursework includes fieldwork or internship experiences that can be completed in your school or district. The program utilizes the unique relationship that exists between a leadership candidate, their employing school district, and the University. This licensure program is approved by the West Virginia Department of Education and is nationally recognized by the Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC). This designation will facilitate a more effective path to licensure in your home state.The Certificate in Educational Leadership consists of eight courses designed to develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed for 21st Century school and district leadership. Coursework and internships are designed to present a data-driven approach to leadership that facilitates learning for all students in America’s schools and districts. Program coursework includes: * Public School Finance and Administrative Applications * School, District, and Community Leadership * Instructional Leadership * School Law and Administrative Applications * Technology Competencies for Educational Leaders * Professional Practices of the Principal Internship * Professional Practices of the District Supervisor Internship * Professional Practices of the Superintendent Internship Program curriculum is also designed to address the content topics of Praxis-based state licensure tests.
