Bachelor of Applied Science and Master of Physiotherapy Practice

Course Description

Learn to assess and treat patients with physical injuries and movement disorders, helping them achieve the highest possible degree of recovery. In first year you'll study the fundamentals of health sciences, then develop your skills in physiotherapy and deepen your knowledge in biosciences in second year. In your final two years you'll apply your knowledge in practical settings, covering areas such as sport, women's health, paediatrics, amputees and spinal cord injury. Our small class sizes mean you'll have a one-on-one connection with staff and fellow students. We emphasise clinical practice, giving you 30 weeks of clinical training throughout your degree. This amounts to approximately seven months of work experience. During your clinical placements, you'll gain skills in talking with patients and working in healthcare teams along with learning the fundamentals of physiotherapy practice. You'll get experience in a range of healthcare settings such as hospitals, rehabilitation centres and private practice. To get an even broader range of experience, you may choose to do part of your clinical experience overseas. The course structure lets you to complete the required subjects for this 4.5-year degree in only four years.

Career outcomes

Once you graduate you'll be eligible to register with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia. Our graduates have gone on to work in hospitals and sporting organisations, in preventative healthcare, in research, or in their own private practice.
