Description The Department of Social Work offers a four-year program of study leading to the bachelor of social work degree (B.S.W.), which prepares students for entry-level generalist practice. The program includes both classroom courses and field practicum experience in local social service agencies. Required courses fall under five content areas: Human behavior in the social environment Social welfare policy and services Research Social work practice Field practicum

Careers Graduates are well-prepared to enter the workforce as generalist social work practitioners—and also to pursue the master of social work degree (M.S.W.). Generalist social work practitioners work with individuals, families, groups, communities, and organizations in a variety of settings in order to recognize, support, and build upon the innate capabilities of all human beings.
