Course Description

There are two distinct but interrelated streams of graduate study in education. The professional program, administered directly by the School of Education , includes the Master of Education , Master of Arts in Teaching, Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study, and Doctor of Education . The research stream, administered by the School of Education through the Graduate School, includes the Master of Arts, the Master of Science, and the Doctor of Philosophy. There is a free interchange of faculty and courses between the two streams, although degree requirements differ, and students in the professional stream matriculate in the School of Education, while those in the research stream matriculate in the Graduate School. For additional information on the M.Ed., M.A.T., C.A.G.S., Ed.D. programs, students should consult the School of Education. The M.A. in Education is offered in 9 areas of specialization by the following departments: Educational Administration and Policy-Administration and Supervision, and International Development Education Curriculum and Instruction:Early Childhood Education, Elementary Curriculum and Teaching, Reading, Secondary Curriculum and Instruction and Special Education Human Development and Psychoeducational Studies: Counseling and Guidance, Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology, Human Development and School Psychology The Ph.D. degree is offered in Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology and School Psychology.
