BUSINESS ANALYTICS CONCENTRATION The role of IT management is to be a full partner, if not a leader, in business and technology innovation for the entire firm. The successful CIO, CTO, or IT manager has significant business savvy and the skills to align IT to business strategy and deliver innovative programs, projects, and technologies to meet business objectives. This MS ITM program is designed to produce IT professionals suited for the top positions in the IT management field. The degree meets the needs of the modern management-level technology professional who will be responsible for the planning, budgeting, design, integration and deployment of strategic enterprise technologies and programs that contribute to the organization's success. The core curriculum provides grounding in the key topics of IT governance and frameworks such as ITIL and COBIT, enterprise architecture, IT finance, capital budgeting, compliance and portfolio, and program management. These skills are enhanced with a strong set of basic business knowledge and managerial skills in business dynamics, communication, leadership, problem solving, accounting and finance, and analytical skills. Through our elective program, students will able to build or renew a wide range of specific technological skill and knowledge in such areas as security, systems design, database management, inter-networking technologies, enterprise applications, and emerging technologies. Students will be able to communicate clearly with line-of-business counterparts and internal clients to create an IT strategy that aligns to business strategy. They will also provide well-argued business cases and business proposals that demonstrate evidence of both course and programmatic learning outcomes. Taught by instructors who are working at the cutting edge of IT technology, our students will put to use the skills and the knowledge to manage effectively in an IT environment increasingly affected by evolving demands of IT outsourcing, regulatory issues of security and compliance, and the increasing use of Internet/Web tools such as Software as a Service, Infrastructure as a Service, and Cloud data storage and management.
