Course Description

The Certificate in Public and Nonprofit Management is scheduled to begin in Fall 2012. The Certificate is intended for in-service practitioners with at least three years of work experience (or, those who have completed part of their graduate course work in a related field of study) in the public or nonprofit sector, and who have an interest in furthering their education with professional training in several core areas of public and nonprofit administration. The certificate program admits students annually each fall; whereby, it takes a total of 1 year to complete the five course sequence. The entire program is offered completely online through web based instruction. After earning the certificate, students with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 may elect to change their status so they can complete the MPA degree. The MPA degree requires a total of 39-credit hours, whereby, in addition to core management courses, students pursue an area of concentration in public management, nonprofit management, or criminal justice administration. The MPA Program at Georgia Southern University is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA).
