Course Description

It has been said that "Everyone talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it." Atmospheric science courses involve studying the origin, structure and motions of Earth's atmosphere. These courses are designed for non-science majors completing a natural science lab requirement or aspiring atmospheric scientists. Follow this link for a detailed Atmospheric Science curriculum guide. Students wishing to major in Atmospheric Science are strongly urged to consult with an academic advisor at Everett Community College at their earliest opportunity.

Career outcomes

The Geosciences Department supports the college-wide Core Learning Outcomes, in additional to promoting the following program specific outcomes: Apply quantitative analysis to solve problems: by solving problems through the use of algebra, analyzing and predicting outcomes from graphical data, and converting between scientific units. Apply the scientific method: by forming hypothesis based upon observations, design and implement simple experiments, and draw reasonable conclusions. Critically evaluate the science related content: by interpreting data from graphs and tables. Effectively communicate scientific processes: by writing laboratory reports that includes data in tabular and graphical format, and summarizing results to explain the phenomena studied.
