The Master in Fashion Design program brings students into direct contact with the fashion design industry in Italy and abroad. You’ll have the rare and exciting opportunity to develop your own original, compelling fashion collection under the guidance of industry professionals. Through both theoretical studies and project experiences, you will develop an individual mode of expression, explore the cultural factors that influence fashion trends, learn the ins and outs of production, and create innovative solutions. Besides honing the “problem solving” skills that every fashion designer needs, you will also develop a “problem defining” approach: the ability to determine the true parameters of each challenge. As you learn to follow your intuition and promote your aesthetic vision within those parameters, you will cultivate more awareness of the reasons behind your own fashion design choices, and those of others. The program is workshop-based, supported by seminars, lectures, tutorials, and fieldwork. Industry professionals, the course leader, and project leaders guide students via individual coaching and project mentorship. The program consists of four main modules, each of which includes a two-week course and six-week workshop. The modules are followed by a two-month internship period and a final portfolio presentation. The modular structure is customizable, allowing flexibility and variety to better serve each student’s needs and goals.
Graduates of the Master in Fashion Design program may launch their career as a fashion designer, art director, textile designer, product manager, trend researcher, cool hunter, or fashion editor. They could also take on a role in marketing/communication or distribution. They may work for fashion brands, design agencies, or magazines, or they may choose to be self-employed.
