Bachelor of Health Science (Health Services Management)

Course Description

The program combines studies of managing people, resources and finances with a comprehensive foundation of the health sciences to develop the professional competencies important for ethical and multidisciplinary practice. Evidence-based practice is one of the most important requirements in healthcare today and a strong feature of the program. There is room for electives in areas of individual interest, allowing a richer experience of university life, or to create a secondary specialisation in Health Promotion or Therapeutic Recreation.

Quality Improvement Officer Quality Improvement Officers coordinate the Australian Council of Health care Standards EQuIPNational Accreditation for an area health service. EQuIPNational is a four-year accreditation program for health services that ensures a continued focus on quality across the health care organisation. Quality improvement officers can also be involved in the strategic planning and supervision of quality and safety activities a major metropolitan hospitals. Project Officer Project Officers work specifically on designated health related projects. Their tasks involve the conceptualisation, design, implementation and evaluation of the project. They can also be involved in evaluating and formulating operational improvements for a health district.
